1. Make sure the Contractor is licensed and in good standing with the Michigan State Building Board. You can contact the Builders Board by going to their web site at www.michigan.gov
    • Providing integrity in the building industry Phase III Construction owner Andrew Kowalski is supported by independent Michigan state builders license.
  2. You can ask for references from you contractor, especially if a friend or family member did not refer you. These references should be past clients and active clients. This will give you a better feel for how the contractor is handling projects today!
    • Phase III Construction is proud to provide our most recent list of completed home transformations; these will be supplied at the time of estimate.
  3. Make sure your contractor is fully insured. A phone call to the contractors insurance company will provide you with this information.
    • Phase III Construction provides complete insurance protection on all projects. Our agency can be reached at: Kapnick & Company, Inc. - (517) 263-4600
  4. Ask the contractor if they are providing you with the complete price? Building quotes vary because often quotes do not take into account survey cost, engineering costs or design fees. There are also a wide range of variables including types and styles of building materials, allowance differences and direct cost items.
  5. Ask about the Contractors tradesmen? The quality of tradesmen used by other builders can certainly change the outcome of the final product, and not necessarily in the right direction!
    • Phase III Construction uses the same team of tradesmen on every job, including the same plumbers, electricians and heating & cooling companies that craft our custom homes.
  6. Inquire about the Contractors stability and reputation.
In this fast paced high-pressure world it's an unfortunate fact that there are some so-called contractors and builders that simply do not live up to the professional standards of our industry. They are here today and gone tomorrow...sometimes leaving their customers holding the bag!
    • Phase III Construction is here today...tomorrow...and next year! Our stability is unquestioned. Our reputation is our calling card. We know the best advertising we can get is from our satisfied clients. Our integrity simply does not allow us to cut any corners - that's a reputation we take great pride in!
  7. Ask about the Contractors experience.
    • Our Builders have been building for more than 15 years and take great pleasure in working directly with our clients. You can be guaranteed that the owner will be present on your job site each & every day building along with the crew, when you need questions answered you will deal directly with the builder/owner.
We realize any building or remodeling project can be a very intimidating encounter. That's why we pride ourselves in sharing the benefits or our experience to help educate each of our clients. We will help you be better equipped to make wise decisions concerning your project - helping you achieve your goals as cost effectively as possible!
  8. Finally, when meeting with different companies, trust your gut feelings! Is this a person you are going to be able to work with? Not only today, but, for the next several weeks or possibly months? Are they listening to you as you explain what your wants and needs are? Do they follow through? Are they responsive to your calls now? Can you see yourself working with this company again on additional projects in the future?
    • At Phase III Construction we pride ourselves on total job satisfaction combined with respectable work ethics, job dedication, exceptional workmanship and advanced knowledge in the building industry, we will pave the way for an enjoyable experience with your home addition.
